Every so often at work I have to wait outside for a customer so I can load their bulky purchases. When they take a long time to arrive, I sometimes take out a pad of paper and doodle. In this case, some flowers from our garden center.

Another main character's design today. He was actually the first character I designed and basically set the style with.

Another character design, this time of a character who will actually feature in the short - a squat baby dragon. Tried to infuse a little bit of frog into this design.

At one point in the development of the story, it featured an anthropomorphic sword, who aged. It has since become a simple unanthropomorphized sword, but still features in the short.

Another character design from Excalibur. At one point this guy was going to have a large role, but at the moment he's just a minor character.

Here's another design for a character from the original concept for Excalibur who has not survived. Though I may stick him in as a background character, because I like the design. He was originally meant to be the main character.

This is a character I created for an earlier version of Excalibur. He has since been taken out of the story, but I still like how the design turned out. I'm giving each character a very analogous colour scheme and I think it worked well on this guy.

So with summer upon me and no more assignments, I decided to try my hand at the full animation process before we begin our 3rd year group films in the fall. With that, I'm excited to reveal a new short I've started working on, Excalibur. The above image is from what I've already storyboarded so far. I'll be posting character designs, storyboards, layouts, etc here as I progress.
